Career background
Experience behind
the perspective.
Steven Lynas brings more than a decade of experience across community banking, mortgage lending, insurance, and financial services.
He began in relationship banking at BBVA Compass, working with individuals, families, and business owners. That experience taught him to start with the person’s circumstances and consider how banking, borrowing, and protection fit together.
BB&T: where the mortgage foundation was built.
Steven served as a Jr. Mortgage Loan Officer at BB&T Mortgage, working as the operations partner to a Senior Mortgage Loan Officer. He took ownership of the file lifecycle—from origination support and processing through underwriting readiness and closing coordination. This was the hands-on work where his mortgage expertise took shape: understanding the details, resolving problems, and protecting the closing timeline.
Self-employed borrowers and complex-income files demanded careful financial analysis, complete documentation, and accurate disclosures. Steven’s work required him to understand what an underwriter would need, identify gaps before submission, and keep each file moving. Credit counseling also became part of his approach: help people understand their position and prepare for the next step.
The lesson carried forward was simple: preparation changes outcomes. A well-prepared file, a clear explanation, and attention to the next deadline can make a meaningful difference for the people relying on a closing.
Putting that foundation to work at Regions.
At Regions, Steven brought that foundation into his own origination work, including first-time homebuyer and affordable-lending programs. He guided borrowers through credit counseling and pre-approval preparation, working through file deficiencies before underwriting submission. Helping someone understand what needed attention—and why—was part of the work from the beginning.
A wider view of financial services.
At New York Life, Steven served as an Agent and Financial Services Professional. He was also a registered representative with its broker-dealer, NYLIFE Securities, LLC, and held Series 6 and Series 63 licenses during that time. His work with families and business owners expanded his perspective across insurance, retirement planning, and securities.
At PNC Investments, he supported financial advisors and wealth-management clients, reviewed advisor documentation for compliance, and helped refine operational workflows. Resolving account and documentation issues before they reached advisors or clients reinforced the value of careful work behind the scenes.
Experience made useful.
That background shapes what Steven brings to a question: read the supporting information, look for what is missing, and explain the next step in plain language. A home loan belongs within a household’s larger financial picture. Insurance, retirement, cash flow, and the timing of a decision deserve attention too.
His community involvement has included outreach, worship production, and logistics support at Heart + Soul Church, along with neighborhood events and hospitality. The same practical instinct carries into Lynas Insights: make useful information easier to find, help people prepare, and know when a question calls for another professional’s expertise.
